How Pollination is Important for Bees' Health, Honey, and Their Environment
There would not be such a thing as delicious, raw local honey if not for pollination. Pollination is an important and valuable part of a honey bee’s life cycle, and sets the bees on a track to preserving their colony, or home, as well as making enormous contributions to the environment.
The term pollination refers to the function of pollen among flowers. Pollen is the main source of energy and protein for honey bees, and as the bees transfer pollen from one plant to another, this gives the plants the sources they need to produce the healthiest crops, including fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Bees thrive inside and outside of their hives, especially in areas that are flower-heavy. When the bees swarm across a field of flowers, they collect nectar and pollen, which is beneficial to them developing larvae in the hive, for reproduction of their own species as well as the reproduction of flowers and other plants.
Flowers are made up of more than just the pretty colored petals we see every spring. On every flower there are:
sepals (which open and fold back, making an opening for the budding petals) .
Filaments, which are stalk-like structures that support the pollen-producing anthers.
Pollen grains, which contain genetic material of a male that is transported into the female structures known as stigmas.
Then, there are ovules (female structure at the base of a plant, that becomes fertilized) and nectaries which produce nectar for animal visitors like bees to collect.
One of the most common flowers for bees to pollinate is the "Bee Balm", which are hot pink in color and bloom in the spring. Others include the Asters, with daisy-like purple petals, Goldenrods, and the famous Sunflower.
Bees are known to be foragers, or harvesters and gatherers. Because bees are foragers, they collect food and nutrients for the colony and the flowers they pollinate. The bees' hairy fuzz-like texture helps them attract pollen and finding a space to pollinate. Honey bees, or worker bees, may also take their collected quantities of nectar and pollen back to the hive and pour it into the honeycomb, thus beginning the honey making process.
Pollination is important so that bees can remain alive and healthy, even when humans are afraid of them. Bees bring so much to our world that sometimes, humans forget to consider all of the good things bees bring us. So, before freaking out if one is flying around, let them bee. Without the process of pollination, there would be no way for bees to make raw honey like Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey. Pollination is the job the bees get done, keeping them "beezy" while helping the world around them.

Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey: Buy It, So You Can Try It!
Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey, produced and manufactured locally in the New York City borough of Staten Island, is a special kind of honey- unfiltered, unprocessed, and packed with vitamins and minerals! Our raw honey is unlike the commercialized kind that is heavily processed where its nutrients are stripped. Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey consists of thousands of enzymes. Upon entry to the human body, enzymes clean out toxins and can help the stomach with digestion, an issue that many people face when it comes to diet and nutrition. Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey is a healthy honey that puts health first, and flavor second while combining the two to produce a sweet, sticky blend of nature’s best ingredients.
Sustainability is the main source of our health-focused honey. At our manufacturing warehouse in Staten Island, we create honey from healthy bees that are sustainably raised, and well cared for during every step of the raw honey-making process, making sure that our honey comes straight from the hive. We keep a close eye on our trained beekeepers who work as hard as the bees to make our honey, who we trust to preserve the health and safety of our many bees. Our beekeepers, as busy as they remain during hours of production, give our bees the chance to continue pollinating the environment around us. Pollination is what keeps the lush, green terrain and flora healthy, allowing it to thrive. Without bees, there would be no such thing as a healthy plant or pretty flowers. What this means is simple: When you purchase a jar of Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey, you make a good choice that benefits both your health, and the atmosphere. When you protect your health, you also protect the planet.
There are many benefits to buying Beezy Beez Local Honey as opposed to processed honey:

A New Recipe to Try Out This Holiday Season: A Honey Cake With Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey
As Winter and the holiday season approaches, I can already feel my oven preheating to make another dessert. Making cakes and cookies is a favorite pastime of mine, especially around the holidays. Making something to enjoy, and sharing it with my family and friends, is one of my greatest pleasures in life. To me, there is nothing that brings people together more than a meal can. Food is a way of sharing old and new traditions, as well as an act of kindness. It can help people understand each other, and start new traditions and inspire ideas- even ideas for meal planning during those busy work weeks! I love relaxing on a Saturday night by making a cake to enjoy with a Netflix series, and red velvet is my personal favorite. I do however, love trying new flavors, and have wanted to try making a honey cake from scratch for quite some time since trying a slice in a diner many years ago.
Thanks to Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey, I can add a special kind of sweetness to this recipe I found while browsing for the recipe that felt like “the perfect one” to make. I found this cake recipe from a baking blog, and substituted the unspecified honey that was listed, with Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey. My holiday baking usually begins around after Thanksgiving, and I am excited to try this one this season! Since I’m new to making my own honey cake, I found an easy recipe with a honey glaze that is perfect for beginner chefs. Here are all of the ingredients you will need:
- cup (120 g) all purpose flour
- ¼ cup (30 g) cornstarch
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup (56 g) unsalted butter - melted
- ¼ cup (52 g) unflavored vegetable oil - I use canola oil
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract/essence
- 2 large eggs - room temperature
- ½ cup (120 g) whole milk
- ½ cup (170 g) Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey
- ¼ cup (25 g) sliced almonds- *if you want to, but remember you do not have to add almonds.
Then, to make the glaze for the cake you will need to follow these steps:
- 1½ tsps (10 g) honey
- 1½ tsps (8 g) unsalted butter
To start cooking, or at least to prepare to start cooking, you must preheat your oven to 180 degrees, and use an 8 x 3 cake pan. Light grease your cake pan, and gently line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together your flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt and ground cinnamon with a whisk until the mixture is well combined.
In another large mixing bowl, combine the melts butter, oil, vanilla, and 2 large eggs.
In a small bowl, combine milk with Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey. Heat this mixture for 30 seconds in the microwave or stovetop.
Set each of the three bowls aside.
Add the dry ingredients and the small bowl of honey/milk into the butter/oil/egg mixture. Whisk the dry ingredients and butter/oil/eggs. Then, once they are combined, add in the Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey/Milk mixture. Your cake batter should appear thin.
Then, pour your cake batter into the cake pan and bake for 30 minutes. When taking the cake out of the oven, leave it to cool for 20 minutes before serving.
If you want to make glaze for your cake, combine Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey with unsalted butter, and whisk gently until combined. After whisking the glaze, use a baking brush to place glaze on the cake. You can add as little or as much glaze as you prefer.
I am looking forward to trying out this new recipe this season! This cake seems like a delicious treat as well as a great addition to any Hanukkah or Christmas gathering. This honey cake might even be a great gift this year for any foodie or just if you want to spread some holiday cheer! Beezy Beez Honey is made in New York and is raw and natural. If You Can't Decide Between Sweet or Spice, Both are Nice. Try Beezy Beez Hot Honey Today!
What if you had to choose between sweet and spicy, but could not make a decision? Maybe you wanted honey with a more loaded flavor. Or, maybe you just like spicy foods over plain. While Staten Island’s Beezy Beez Honey Company is best known for its flavorful Beezy Beez Raw Local Honey, there is one culinary trend that many foodies love making its way into our honey: spice. Frank’s Red Hot sauce is found on many recipes from wings to dipping sauces, and it’s also found in our Beezy Beez Hot Honey.
Beezy Beez Hot Honey is simply that: Our Raw Local Honey, infused with Frank’s Red Hot. Spicy foods are not always everyone’s cup of tea, or spoonful of honey, if we’re beeing real here, but, many people enjoy spicy foods and therefore, need options for when they want to cook something with honey.
The origins of Frank’s Red Hot sauce began back in 1896, when entrepreneur Jacob Frank established the Frank Tea and Spice Company, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Some of the company’s top selling products were teas, olives, peanut butter, and spices. Frank’s Red Hot sauce was made by mixing cayenne peppers with vinegar and other spices, and then the sauce would be aged before bottling. The hot sauce was first bottled in 1920.
Today, Frank’s Red Hot is the most popular hot sauce brand.
Beezy Beez Hot Honey can be used to add a kick of spice to many foods one would mostly find on the grill, including chicken, steak, and ribs. Being a total foodie myself, I’m definitely a meat and potatoes kind of girl. So, barbeque foods, steaks, chicken wings, and all that tasty stuff is right up my alley. In the summertime, I enjoy getting behind the grill and making a steak or a burger, and in the fall, I usually hit a trendy tavern for some wings.

What’s on the Menu? Coffee and Honey
Beezy Beez Honey in Staten Island is nothing like your ordinary coffee shop. It is a factory as well as a hang out for not just coffee lovers, but also those who love to gather. A hidden gem located in the Travis-Chelsea neighborhood of the New York City borough, Beezy Beez is a coffee shop and New York-licensed raw honey manufacturer that is committed to producing the best flavors from the most natural of ingredients. The shop’s raw honey and unique coffee creations its menu advertises consists of a diverse range of flavored brews and variations of raw honey, appealing customers of all kinds, and, if you are a foodie looking to try something new, Beezy Beez is definitely the place to “bee”.
Beezy Beez produces its well known original Beezy Beez Raw Honey, which is a fan favorite. Unlike processed regular honey, raw honey has nutritional benefits. On the question of raw versus regular honey, what makes raw honey the healthier option? Raw honey is all natural, unprocessed, and does not contain additives such as corn syrup and sugar. Being left unheated and unpasteurized is how raw honey gets its signature flavor and function. Raw honey is healthy honey, and can improve heart health and regulate levels of blood sugar. It has also been found to be rich in antioxidants, which give a person vitamins. Among the variations available to purchase include Original (2 Lb, 1 Lb, or 12 Oz), Black Truffle Honey, True Manuka Honey, and the trendy Hot Honey. With a handful of selections to choose from, customers will be able to find their favorite flavors and more. In addition to its raw honey collection, Beezy Beez has a menu of coffees to try whether you are inside their shop or on the go.
With coffee being an important meal of one’s day for some, it is true that everyone prefers their coffee differently. Some like a classic, hot cup of black coffee, and others may just like theirs with milk and sugar. Some might not like any coffee at all- but that’s nothing to worry about when there is tea and lemonade! Signature drinks include the Skinny Iggy (an iced skim latte), the fruity and refreshing Berry Bossman, a honey-infused green tea refresher called “Tropic Like It’s Hot” which includes hints of lime and mango, and even the option most fit for the season- the pumpkin-spiced triple espresso known as our “Talk a Latte”.
Beezy Beez works busier than ever to provide its customers an experience they will never forget- combining the prioritization of health, and making customized treats that are fun and exciting for them to try. This tiny coffee shop has an expansive menu with a large amount of passion that goes into each culinary project- all from raw honey of the healthiest of bees. It is a unique spot that New Yorkers should check out, and see for themselves to “bee-lieve” how great their products are.
