Most would agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but when it comes to waking up and starting the day on a good track, coffee is the most important meal of the day. Coffee is a great source of energy, giving us the caffeine we need to wake up and feel energized to complete any tasks on our agendas. I, for the most part, cannot start my day without it. Having been a regular coffee connoisseur since I was a teenager, coffee has become an urgent need as I’ve grown into adulthood. Every morning, I wake up around 7 and head straight to the keurig.  My fingers grab a Kirkland K-Cup to pop in, and I watch patiently as the coffee brews. It’s something I look forward to, a time of peace and reflection. I usually have a cup of black coffee, except for those occasions where I’m near a coffee shop that sells exclusive, interesting combinations to choose from the menu. Green tea, lemonade, caramel, and… only at Beezy Beez… Honey-Infused coffees.

At Beezy Beez, a honey-infused coffee is something to try when you can’t decide what exactly to order. In the Signature Drinks section of the Beezy Beez menu, storegoers and coffee lovers can try the honey-infused specialties Olive Me Alone, Tropic Like it’s Hot, and All Hail Honey. Or, if you’re in the mood to request it, try a regular coffee with raw honey. Our New York Raw Honey is the next big thing you need in your coffee. Almond milk, who?

Honey-Infused coffee is often embraced as a healthier alternative to sweetened coffees, traditionally with sugar. Substituting sugar with raw honey, the infusion of coffee and honey brings a rich aroma of a brew with honey hints that smell straight from a hive. Sugar is known to pose a risk to health, and increase a person’s chances of lack of sleep, obesity, diabetes, and pancreas issues. Because of the high levels of fructose in sugar, it is not the healthiest to consume in large amounts- but then again, everything in moderation.

If something such as coffee becomes an urgent need or a habit, how can we do it in moderation? I noticed that cutting the afternoon cup (I used to have one in the morning, followed by a second in mid-afternoon) has helped me focus tremendously.

The polar opposite of sugar, honey contains many rich health compounds including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which prevent cell damage, and while the benefits are low in amount, honey still plays a significant role in human health, when exploring holistic wellness and natural remedies. My holistic wellness journey began earlier this year, when a friend invited me to an Essential Oils seminar one weekend in June. While there I learned all about oils such as Lavender (which quickly became a favorite!), Pine, Stress Away, and their purposes. I also learned different ways to utilize essential oils and whether to apply them topically or let them diffuse. It really helped me learn how to take a more natural and health conscious approach to the sleep problems I was dealing with, and train my mind to get into shape.

Honey is one of nature’s finest contributions and can offer so much to human health when we apply it to daily life. Eliminating sugar by larger than usual amounts can improve the body’s intake of balanced nutrients and absorb each one equally. Holistic wellness is something I recommend everybody explore, and even if they do not favor it, they can still say that they tried it. I have been making efforts to put my health first while learning more about honey and its benefits. Honey is sweet as its name sounds!
